This is what I know to be true:

Through making, one can know. A designer can be many things, but first and foremost, a designer must be an observer. A designer has a dense core consisting of habits, morals and a sense of self while the outer bits of the designer merge and change in conjunction with the external world. Through design, I can connect with the generations before me. Pausing is important for reflection and rejuvenation, open yet kind dialogue is key to a successful project. Design is for the people and we, as designers, shouldn’t alienate ourselves from the community we live in. I want my audience to see the human behind my designs. Design is a process, and sometimes the process needs time to marinate. Education is best served warm and with a healthy dose of humanity. My work doesn’t come from a cold, objective place but rather, it comes out of my experiences.
